July. 15, 2018
Soft and powerful, this 24 years old Barcelonian artist’s voice will break your heart.

She was 13 years old, playing in the streets of in her village, near Barcelona, Camarón voice was playing out of cars speakers when the Flamenco legend captivated her soul. She fell in love with Flamenco.
Since then, Rosalía dedicated her voice to this art. After obtaining a University degree in Music, she dropped her first album, Los Ángeles in 2017 in collaboration with Raül Refree. Mostly acoustic, she juggles between whispers, sweet vocals, and full-throated singing at the rhythm of string guitar scratching. Rosalía blows a wind of modernity to flamenco with this album. « In Flamenco, age and experience are appreciated. Life experiences leave some marks in your voice. »
"To me flamenco is the form of expression that I have chosen. I have always liked music in general, but especially flamenco because I think it is different from other music because of its emotional weight, its depth; you can feel its density. Flamenco is ‘root’ music, it is folkloric, and as an artist, I am interested in having a foundation that has to do with roots, with a music that is of the people. I fell in love when I discovered it."

Rising in Spain, Rosalía was the only Spanish artist to be nominated in the « Best new artist » category at the Las Vegas Latin Grammy Awards 2017. Spain relies on her to spread the country’s culture internationally, as the new face of Flamenco.
Her new project « El Mal Querer » will be released this year, the date is still a surprise (we can’t wait 🔥 !!!). In collaboration with El Guincho, she produces and composes every track « To me it is very important to create the sounds as they sound in my head ». « El Mal Querer », will set up a new tone for Rosalía.
Yet, it is with her fabulous « Malamente » single and music video that Rosalía is coming to flamenconquest the world with her palmas vibe - traditional Flamenco hand clap.
& Don’t you dare blaming the artist for cultural appropriation. Yes, Rosalía was born in San Esteve Sesrovires, near Barcelona, and not in Andalusia BUT "Catalonia is also very Flamenco ! Catalan Flamenco lives Carmen Amaya, Miguel Poveda, Maye Martín, Montse Cortés… It is not the exclusive legacy of Andalusia."
